REPORTS TO: Director, New View Vocational Rehabilitation Program

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, social services, or other relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience in job development, community outreach, marketing, communication, recruitment, or related profession. Experience in sales with proven track record in relationship building or vocational counseling training and/or experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and a strong belief in their ability to be valued members in the workforce.
  • Strong working knowledge of medical, psychological, social, and vocational aspects of disability, with particular emphasis on blindness and visual impairment.
  • Knowledge of community resources, occupational information, and job readiness.
  • Ability to travel independently and have access to reliable transportation as the position travels regularly to business customers in the field.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with employers to identify and/or develop community employment opportunities for job training and permanent employment for program participants.
  • Extensive in-person and telephone contact with employers is an essential function of this position.
  • Provide individual and group instruction to vocational rehabilitation program participants, including completing job applications, developing a résumé and cover letter, networking, effective job search strategies, and interviewing techniques.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Negotiate and secure quality employment matches appropriate to program participant strengths and skills.
  • Negotiate and secure contracts/agreements with employers for client placements.
  • Identify and pursue leads, market analysis, and other services to drive client placements.
  • Maintain regular contact with community and business partners who are contracting for services with CVI as well as with funding agencies.
  • Provide leadership and motivation for participants in community-based work adjustment programs.
  • Ensure that highest quality individualized services are delivered with a focus on the mission of CVI.
  • Develop and maintain quality relationships with potential employers in a sales context with a focus on frequent field visits and face-to-face interaction, as well as telephone and email communication.
  • Build and maintain employer relationships through Business Advisory Councils (BACs) and other employer forums.
  • Accurately document all activities with potential employers. Open, review, and maintain program participant case files and documents according to CVI policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement individual plans for each service provided to program participants.
  • Comply with CVI, New View, National Accreditation Council for Blind and Low Vision Services (NAC), federal, and grant regulations, policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), as well as CVI’s safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Participate in cross-departmental teams, as assigned.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong time management, analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of medical, psychological, social, and vocational aspects of disability, with particular emphasis on blindness and visual impairment.
  • Knowledge of community resources, occupational information, and job readiness.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic relationships and extensive experience networking with employers and industry leaders.
  • Must be computer literate and functional in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of assistive technology software like JAWS and MAGic is highly desirable.
  • Ability to provide positive leadership in a flexible geographic environment where self-direction, prioritizing, and organizational skills will be crucial to success.
  • Ability to be flexible in hours and work locations across greater service area to accommodate the needs of the Business Contracts Program and CVI.
  • Strong ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of organizations and individuals.
