The VisAbility Hub is a vital part of the Center for the Visually Impaired and helps the agency serve its important mission every day. For the last 10 years visually impaired customers have accessed the expertise of the staff to help identify what products will work best for their individual abilities. THe Hub has become a place where customers can touch and try out products to make sure they will fit their unique situations.

The point of sale (POS) system is a critical component of the VisAbility Hub, and today the hardware is deteriorating and the failure of the server is imminent. In addition, the Hub currently employs six staff, four of whom are blind or visually impaired. The old POS system is not accessible to the visually impaired, leaving only two of the staff to ring up sales, perform inventory, or run reports.

Bill Epperson, Director of the VisAbility Hub, has identified a new POS system that will serve all the needs of the customers and staff. The software, support, and licensing package from Shopify, along with hardware, installation, and training are estimated to cost $25,000. This new system is an urgent need and with your donations we can make it happen! Help us celebrate the 10th birthday of the VisAbility Hub by reaching our goal for the new POS system!
