QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • Minimum of five years successful fundraising or related experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of key fundraising areas, including annual fund, capital campaigns, planned giving, corporate giving, and major gifts
  • Experience with donor management software
  • Knowledge of Atlanta financial resources and philanthropy preferred
  • Ability to travel independently to meetings outside of office
  • Experience with the blind/visually impaired community a plus

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the day-to-day fundraising activities of the Center for the Visually Impaired
  • Design, implement, and coordinate fundraising strategies and action plans, including annual giving campaigns, campaigns for restricted gifts, endowment campaigns, capital campaigns, and other initiatives to increase the financial resources of CVI
  • Inform President and leadership team of issues related to CVI’s fundraising priorities
  • Offer substantive input on the funding potential for new programs
  • Provide leadership for corporate and individual volunteer programs

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate as a member of the CVI management team
  • Participate in setting annual fundraising goals and expense budget. Track and report progress toward annual goals throughout year and devise alternative strategies, as necessary, to meet goals
  • Plan and implement annual giving campaign. Design multiple solicitation opportunities within approved budget for key constituent groups, e.g. Board, individuals, corporate donors, and staff. Assist volunteers and/or make personal solicitations to donors to achieve goals
  • Provide strategic oversight for special event fundraising, including “Dining in the Dark” and “Night Visions”
  • Provide strategic oversight for cultivation and stewardship events, setting goals and supervising staff with day-to-day responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of 75 major gift prospects from identification to cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Record contact reports for all substantive prospect and donor communication
  • Provide strategic oversight for donor recognition programs, including the Henderson Society and the Mary Ann and Dick Cook Society
  • Coordinate capital campaigns, working with campaign counsel, President, program managers, and key volunteers to achieve goals
  • Supervise Development staff, overseeing annual goal and objective setting, evaluating performances, and coaching and mentoring, as needed
  • Provide lead staff support to Fundraising Committee, including setting agendas, recording meeting notes, and general oversight of committee work
  • Provide support and counsel on all fundraising-related issues for the CVI Foundation Board of Trustees and the CVI Board of Trustees
  • Perform additional duties, as assigned
